Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Harvard CV Maker website at harvardcvmaker.com (the "Service") operated by Harvard CV Maker ("us", "we", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or older where required by local law) and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Harvard CV Maker is an AI-assisted online tool for creating and managing job application documents in the Harvard resume format. The Service includes:

• AI-assisted and manual CV creation and editing in the Harvard format
• AI-assisted and manual cover letter creation and editing
• Importing an existing CV from an uploaded file
• AI optimization of a CV and tailoring a CV to a job description
• Secure per-account document storage
• PDF export

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will not materially reduce the value of credits you have already purchased.

3. User Accounts

You must provide accurate, complete, and current information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@harvardcvmaker.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use resulting from your failure to protect your credentials.

4. Credits, Payments, and Refunds

• Pay-per-use credits. The Service uses prepaid credits: CV credits allow you to create new CVs, and cover letter credits allow you to generate or save cover letters. Editing, optimizing, or tailoring an existing CV does not consume an additional CV credit.
• Payment processing. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's terms. We never receive your full payment card details.
• Pricing. Prices are shown at checkout and may change over time. Price changes do not affect credits you have already purchased.
• Credits do not expire while your account remains active. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value outside the Service.
• Failed generations. If an AI generation fails on our side after consuming a credit, the credit is automatically refunded to your account.
• Refunds. You can preview documents before downloading. If you are not satisfied, contact support@harvardcvmaker.com and we will review refund requests in good faith. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable statutory refund rights you may have in your jurisdiction.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Create documents containing content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringing
• Attempt to bypass authentication, authorization, rate limits, or the credit system
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service, or access it by automated means other than a standard search engine
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service bureau
• Reverse engineer or copy the Service or use it to build a competing product
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

You are solely responsible for the truthfulness and accuracy of the information in your CVs and cover letters and for how you use them.

6. Your Content and AI Output

You retain all rights to the content you submit to the Service and to the CVs and cover letters you create with it, including AI-assisted output, to the maximum extent permitted by law. You are free to use your documents anywhere, for any lawful purpose, with no attribution required.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, and transmit your content solely as needed to operate and provide the Service (for example, sending your CV content to our AI provider when you request a generation). This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except where retention is required by law.

7. AI Disclaimer

The Service uses artificial intelligence. AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise imperfect. You must review and verify all generated content before using it. We do not guarantee that documents created with the Service will pass any particular applicant tracking system, result in interviews or employment, or meet the requirements of any specific employer. The Service provides document-creation tools, not career, legal, or professional advice.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service depends on third-party providers, including Google Firebase (authentication and storage), OpenAI (AI processing), Lemon Squeezy (payments), and Vercel (hosting). We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or availability of third-party services, and temporary interruptions of the Service caused by them may occur.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding content you provide), features, and functionality are and will remain our exclusive property and that of our licensors, protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Our name, logo, and trade dress may not be used without our prior written consent. The "Harvard resume format" as a general document structure is not proprietary to us, and we claim no rights in Harvard University's trademarks.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time by emailing support@harvardcvmaker.com. We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if you materially breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or where required by law. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
• You will have 30 days to request a copy of your documents, unless your account was terminated for fraud or unlawful conduct
• We may delete your account and data after 30 days
• Unused credits are forfeited on termination for breach; for account deletion at your request, contact support to discuss any remaining credits before deleting

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6–13) survive.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Harvard CV Maker, its owners, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Harvard CV Maker and its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at support@harvardcvmaker.com and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. Any disputes not resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Islamabad, Pakistan. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws grant you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or under your local law, nothing in this section deprives you of that right.

15. General

• Severability: if any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
• No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
• Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.

16. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date; for material changes we will provide additional notice via email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
